The Leadership and Management Award (LMA) acknowledges and celebrates the work of health managers and their teams in achieving significant improvements in health care in countries across the globe. Dedicated managers and health care professionals face enormous challenges every day, whether they are capacity-building, faith-based, private or public organizations, direct service providers or multi-sectoral teams. This award recognizes outstanding results achieved through the application of team based leadership and management approaches to overcoming challenges, and will inspire others by telling the stories of their teams.
The second annual LMA will go to the team that can demonstrate measurable and compelling results of a joint effort to overcome a clearly defined challenge within their organization. The first place team will receive an award trophy and $1,000 USD as a grant to continue the work of their project. The second place team will receive $500 USD as a grant to continue the work of their project. The first, second and third place teams will be profiled on LeaderNet and in other international media outlets.
As the challenges of health care are global, this award is open to teams from the developing world that are not USAID-funded Cooperative Agreements or partners, Bilaterals, or MSH field offices. Applications are available and can be submitted in seven languages: English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Arabic, Swahili, or Russian. Applications must be submitted by the team as a whole. Please visit the LeaderNet website for instructions on completing, downloading, and submitting the application. You do not need to register as a member or LeaderNet to apply for the Award. However, to see examples of past winners, you must be a member of LeaderNet. Becoming a member of LeaderNet is FREE and simple. Here are the steps:

The deadline for receiving completed applications is Friday, February 29, 2008. Applications will be evaluated by a global selection committee representing a number of areas of expertise and the winner will be announced in early April 2008.
