AMR Call to Action Workshop in Adama, Ethiopia, November 2006
The AMR Advocacy Coalition organized the Call to Action National Workshop on Antimicrobial Resistance in Adama, Ethiopia, November 16-18, 2006. The meeting was attended by 70 stakeholders representing various sectors, including:

Health service providers
The media
Cooperating partners
The meeting included 20 presentations, which covered the AMR situation; training of physicians and pharmacists; drug regulation activities; and the HIV, TB, and malaria programs in Ethiopia, as well as discussion of gaps in AMR containment and breakout group work.
The four breakout groups worked for almost a full day to come up with recommendations for AMR containment in Ethiopia and to design action plans. The work of these groups was integrated into a consensus document, the Adama Declaration, declaring their commitment to action and outlining priority areas for Ethiopia.
