Support Local and Regional Capacity Building for Drug Management, Rational Antimicrobial Use, and Infection Control In recent decades, the emergence and spread of resistant microbes has accelerated because of the proliferation of antimicrobial agents and the abundant use and misuse by humans. Likewise, poor infection prevention and control leads to a greater burden of infection and need for antimicrobials. Resistant organisms are also transmitted in high risk environments, such as hospitals, when infection control programs are lacking. Additionally, the quality antimicrobials must be assured through effective monitoring and management.
