Most people living with HIV/AIDS in developing countries have limited or no access to HIV/AIDS-related pharmaceutical products. RPM Plus is applying its experience in pharmaceutical management to maximize the efficient and effective use of HIV/AIDS resources, with a focus on the health commodities necessary for prevention, treatment, and care. The RPM Plus approach to addressing some of the HIV/AIDS-related health commodity management issues includes:
- Providing technical support for health commodity procurement to the USAID/Office of HIV/AIDS (O/HA), USAID missions, and USAID-funded cooperating agencies (CAs)
- Supporting global initiatives such as the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria and the President's Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission and regional approaches to addressing HIV/AIDS-related health commodity management issues
- Offering technical assistance to missions and CAs for HIV/AIDS-related health commodity management issues
- Working with O/HA and CAs to identify and address health commodity management issues related to introducing and expanding access to drugs and other commodities in support of treatment and care initiatives
RPM Plus seeks to identify opportunities for collaboration with international agencies, donors, and countries as they move forward with their responses to the HIV/AIDS pandemic.
